Studio Notes: How to pitch a children's book

I know many of you have amazing book ideas, but possibly don’t know where to start. That was me—back in 2012(ish).

I attended one of the first Alt Summit conferences in Salt Lake City, and sat in on a panel discussion with Kate Woodrow (then of Chronicle Books), Lia Ronnen of Artisan Books, Grace Bonnie and Julia Rothman. They generously shared, step by step, how to pitch a book. It stayed with me, tucked away in the back of my mind, until 2018 when I was ready to pursue my own children’s book. I’d been in the book/publishing industry for quite a while doing freelance design work, but had never pursued my own book. When the time came, advice and guidance from others in the industry truly helped me so much, and so I hope this can help you as well!
