It’s been a little quiet over here, because we’ve been prepping for the Mother / Founder Scholarship! I’m so excited it’s finally live. Jen, my co-author, and I have been prepping this for years, and are so excited to finally launch it with the help of our publisher, Artisan and Hachette Book Group to make sure we cross all of our t’s and dot our i’s.
When I began my motherhood journey in 2013 as a self employed graphic designer, I was drowning. We wrote the book I wish I’d had back then. Because we relied so heavily on the generous contributions of other self-employed mothers, we knew we had to give back in a big way. Jen and I each set aside $5000 of our book advance as well as a $100 honorarium for each woman profiled in our book. Generously, most women donated their $100 back into the scholarship, bringing out total up to $15,000. Then with the generosity of or scholarship partners (Haworth, Libro.fm, Volk, Hearth, Gusto, Hachette Book group, Revival, and Artisan) we were able to bring the grand total up to $20k in prize awards that range from payroll services to office furniture.
